LEAVE A LEGACY, CREATE YOUR LEGACY

One of the hallmarks of a truly great community is its vibrant cultural life.

In 1985, a small group of visionaries were driven to invest in the cultural landscape of South Florida. With a passion and a grand vision, Toby Lerner Ansin and Edward Villella inspired others to dream of creating a world-class ballet company that we could call our own.

And so, the inspired philanthropist and the legendary artist began their humble venture, putting 11 dancers on stage.

Today, with more than 50 dancers, Miami City Ballet has become an iconic cultural institution in South Florida and beyond. With an internationally-acclaimed school and ground-breaking community engagement programs, we have deepened our mission and expanded the reach of our transformational art form to become one of the leading performing arts companies in the nation.

What started as a dream is now a living legacy.

Miami City Ballet is universally admired as one of the world’s preeminent interpreters of the choreography of George Balanchine. While honoring that tradition, we take pride in nurturing emerging choreographic voices, creating innovative collaborations, and opening new avenues of inclusivity within classical ballet.

With every new voice and collaboration, with every new company or international premiere, we are building on the Balanchine canon by expanding our own repertoire.

This is our legacy to South Florida and the world.

You can be part of that by creating your own legacy.

When you include Miami City Ballet in your estate plan, you are investing in this beautiful art form we call ballet. You’re bringing new works to life while allowing us to reimagine the classics. You’re helping us produce tomorrow’s dancers who study at the Miami City Ballet School. You’re fostering the healthy development of youth in our community, and making ballet more accessible to children, youth, and families.

When you let us know that you are including Miami City Ballet in your estate plans, we will welcome you as a member of the Apollo Society. Named in honor of Balanchine’s oldest masterpiece and first performed by our company in 1987, Apollo Society members share a passionate commitment to the power of dance and arts education to bring together communities.
